Our Introductory Farsi (فارسی) language courses begin with a focus on learning the script, reading and writing practice, an introduction to Farsi grammar, vocabulary, and conversational practice. Subsequent Terms reinforce both reading and writing, and introduce additional grammar, vocabulary and conversation.

EarthDiverse currently offers the following Farsi/Persian language classes on a rotating and evolving basis, with new intakes of students in Farsi 101 beginning twice a year, in Term 1 (February) and again in Term 3 (July/August). 101 and 103 courses are offered in Terms 1 and 3 each year, and 102 and 104 courses are offered in Terms 2 & 4 each year. If you’re interested in starting Farsi from scratch, you can do so twice a year, in Term 1 (early February) or Term 3 (July/August). If you have some elementary understanding, you may consider starting in a 102 or 103 course as well. If you’ve got a good grasp on Farsi, and/or have completed Introductory or Intermediate levels, and you just want to get together on a weekly basis and discuss different topics, consider registering for Conversational Farsi (Farsi 300), which we plan to begin as soon as there is sufficient interest. Courses listed in bold blue below are currently offered this Term.

• Farsi 101: Introductory Farsi, Part 1 (offered Term 1 and Term 3 each year)
• Farsi 102: Introductory Farsi, Part 2 (offered Term 2 and Term 4 each year)
• Farsi 103: Introductory Farsi, Part 3 (offered Term 1 and Term 3 each year)
• Farsi 104: Introductory Farsi, Part 4 (offered Term 2 and Term 4 each year)

When completing one 8-week course, each cohort can begin advancing to the next course in the series. If you have knowledge or spoken and written Farsi and wish to practice your conversational skills, consider enrolling in our Farsi 300: Conversational Farsi course, which we will add in the future Terms.

LOCATION: EarthDiverse Centre, 401 Anglesea Street, Hamilton Central, Hamilton (see map below under Location tab), on-line via Zoom, or through video recordings of our live-streamed sessions posted 1-2 days after each class.

DISTANCE-LEARNING OPTIONS: Our Farsi courses offer distance learning options for those unable to attend classes in-person. Live-streamed classes are available via free Zoom software, or those unable to attend the date and time of the actual class sessions can watch the live-recorded video sessions on their computers, laptops, tablets or mobile devices and study at their own pace. These recorded sessions will be available soon after each class finishes so that you may watch the recorded video via any web-browser at your leisure. Your instructor will provide details on how to access your classes before your course begins.

Cost per person per Term (8 classes):

• Waged: NZ$200 per person per term (includes GST + online registration fee)
• Unwaged (unemployed, students, seniors): NZ$175 (includes GST + online registration fee)

• Farsi 102: Introductory Farsi, Part 2 for continuing students (Fridays 4:30-6:00pm beginning 25 October 2024)
• Farsi 104: Introductory Farsi, Part 4 for continuing students  (Thursdays 7:45-9:15pm beginning 24 October 2024)
