This series of courses is specially designed by the Waikato Hispano Latino Cultural Trust and EarthDiverse to teach the children of Spanish-speaking communities and others strongly connected to their heritage language and culture. These language courses are specifically designed with children in mind and the instructors come from within the Hispano Latino community in the Waikato.
SPANISH HERITAGE LANGUAGE COURSES FOR CHILDREN OF SPANISH SPEAKING COMMUNITIES:
2023 Term 1 Spanish Heritage Language classes begin the week of Monday 13 February 2023. Enrol your children now!
The Waikato Hispano Latino Cultural Trust and the EarthDiverse Trust are pleased to announce the introduction of their collaborative effort to begin Heritage Spanish Language courses for the children of Spanish-speaking communities.

We offer three distinct series of courses that students can join at anytime:
- Heritage Spanish 011: Developing Speaking Skills (Tuesdays 4:00-5:00pm, beginning 14 February 2023)
- Heritage Spanish 021: Developing Reading & Writing Skills (Wednesdays 4:00-5:00pm, beginning 15 February 2023)
- Heritage Spanish 031: Developing All Speaking, Reading & Writing Skills (Fridays 4:00-5:00pm, beginning 17 February 2023)
Our Language Teaching Style:
Class Format:
ASSESSMENT: Your child’s communicative skills in Spanish must first be assessed by our Team so that we are certain that s/he is placed in th correct class. Please contact our Language Programme Director Cristina Schumacher to arrange for an assessment.
NOTE: Please note that these courses have special registration requirements and pricing, outlined on each course page.
LOCATION: EarthDiverse Centre, 401 Anglesea Street, Hamilton Central, Hamilton (see map below under Location tab), on-line via Zoom, or through video recordings of our live-streamed sessions posted 1-2 days after each class.
DISTANCE-LEARNING OPTIONS: Our Spanish language courses offer distance learning options for those unable to attend classes in-person. Live-streamed classes are available via free Zoom software, or those unable to attend the date and time of the actual class sessions can watch the live-recorded video sessions on their computers, laptops, tablets or mobile devices and study at their own pace. These recorded sessions will be available soon after each class finishes so that you may watch the recorded video via any web-browser at your leisure. Your instructor will provide details on how to access your classes before your course begins.
