I was born and raised in Teluk Intan, Perak in Malaysia until I was 17. Studied my early education in an all-girls convent School (Malay & English Medium).
I moved to Nz in 1989 to further my studies and migrated for good in 2004 with my family. I’m a single parent of two super handsome sons and two super gorgeous girls.
I studied Tamil as an extracurricular activity in school POL (People Own Language), from the age of 9 till 17. I instantly fell in love with the language so much that I decided to take Tamil Language and Tamil Literature as two of my extra subjects for my Form 3 and Form 5 Government Examinations.
To help prepare for the examinations, I took up Tamil tuition for three consecutive years. two hours a day, five days a week .with all the guidance from my teachers, sat for the exams and passed with merit. I was just blown away, and so were my teachers and parents. it was such an honour and achievement for a non-Tamil School student. Although I was unable to pursue my passion in learning Tamil further. I’m really happy to be able to read, write and speak in Tamil despite having lived in NZ for almost half my life. I’m also very proud that I taught my eldest son how to read, write and speak in Tamil too. Although my three younger children were born and brought up in NZ and unable to read, write or speak, I’m still super proud of them for being able to understand when I speak to them in Tamil, and they still use some words in Tamil, especially when acknowledging family members. I’m very happy and grateful for having an opportunity to be part of the EarthDiverse Team, allowing me to learn more while I work and spread the language that I love so much. I believe that learning is a lifetime process and I am eager to share and extend my knowledge with my students. Thank you.
